Please note that while most of our festival venues are within walking distance of each other and of the train and bus stations, Sheffield is quite hilly and can be challenging for someone with reduced mobility. Uber and Veezu operate taxi services in Sheffield, and it is possible to request a wheelchair accessible taxi through their apps.

Showroom Cinema

The Showroom Cinema is an independent art house cinema and where DocFest began in 1994. It is housed in a 1936 art deco building which was formerly the Kennings car dealership,

A three-screen boutique cinema in Sheffield's city centre, Curzon Sheffield is housed in a converted 19th Century bank and boasts as stunning rooftop bar and terrace.

The Crucible Theatre

Sheffield’s renowned production theatre, The Crucible is part of Sheffield Theatres, the largest theatre complex outside of London. DocFest events will be taking place in the main theatre, plus the Playhouse & Adelphi auditoriums.

Sheffield City Hall

Sheffield City Hall is a magnificent Grade II listed building owned by the Sheffield City Council. This year, Sheffield City Hall will host the DocFest Opening Night film.

Sheffield Town Hall

The Sheffield Town Hall is an impressive Grade 1 listed Victorian building built in 1897 and is located right in the heart of the city.

Tudor Square

Tudor Square is home to the largest concentration of theatres in the UK outside of London and one of the busiest spots during the festival, as it’s also the site of our central festival box office.

Cutlers' Hall

A magnificent venue steeped in history and grandeur, this impressive Grade II listed building in the heart of Sheffield is home to the MeetMarket.

Channing Hall

Channing Hall is named after the 19th Century American Unitarian Minister Dr William Ellery Channing.

Leadmill

The Leadmill is Sheffield's longest running live music venue and nightclub. It first opened its doors in 1980 and has been a creative hub for over 40years. Based on Leadmill Road, lying on the southeast edge of the city centre.

Tamper Sellers Wheel

Sample a little bit of relaxed kiwi cafe culture at Sellers Wheel, a 19th Century former silversmiths in the heart of Sheffield’s Cultural Industries Quarter. Tucked beneath a red brick vaulted ceiling, coffee takes centre stage, alongside fresh smoothies, teas and cocktails plus cakes and pastries from The Depot Bakery and tasty treats from The Adventurous Cakebook.

Network

The team behind Record Junkee present Sheffield’s newest live music and club in the heart of the city centre, built on the creativity, ambition and unity which define the city. Network plays host to some of DocFest’s iconic parties throughout the festival.

Workstation

Housed in the iconic Kenning House, a 1930s Art Deco building (formerly Kenning’s Wonder Garage), and found in Sheffield’s Cultural Industries Quarter, Workstation has a direct link to the city’s rich creative and industrial history.
